Flex Your Limits: A Yoga and Recovery Workshop for Athletes

Calling all athletes!

Join us for an exclusive yoga workshop designed specifically for athletes, led by out esteemed instructor, Paul Beckwith, who specializes in recovery and flexibility training. The goal of this workshop is to strengthen the knowledge of your body and mind as an athlete through yoga.

Following an optional run with the Pop Life Run Club or bike with Devah D Cycling (https://www.devahdcycling.com/) the "Props and Adjustments" workshop is the perfect cooldown to enhance your recovery, flexibility, and overall athletic performance.

Why athletes should attend:

Enhanced recovery:

Post-workout yoga can significanly speed up your recovery process, reducing muscle soreness and preventing injuries. Our targeted poses and stretches are designed to address common areas of tension and fatigue in athletes, promoting quicker recovery and allowing you to return to training sooner.


Improved flexibility and range of motion:

Practicing yoga regularly can greatly improve flexibility, range of motion and balance. These benefits are not only essential for performance but also for preventing injuries by ensuring your body can handle the demands of intense athletic activities.


Breath control and mental focus:

Yoga teaches breath control and mental discipline, tools that are invaluable for athletes during both training and competition. Learn to harness your breathing to improve endurance and use mindfulness to maintain focus and calm under pressure.

Itinerary:

*Optional: 10:30am - 11:45am

*Bike ride with Devah D Cycling: please reach out to poplifeconnection@gmail.com for more information! This ride is strictly donation-based.

*3-6 mile run with the Pop Life Run Club: easy run with the group. Stretch beforehand with the group. This run is strictly donation-based.

Yoga Workshop: 12:00pm - 1:15pm

Introduction: Understanding the benefits and how it complements your training regimen

Dynamic warm-up: Gentle movements to transition from the run to your yoga mat

Targeted yoga session: A series of poses focusing on flexibility, strength, and recovery, specifically designed for runners and athletes. Use of props like blocks, straps, and bolsters to aid in poses and ensure proper alignment. Breath work techniques will be used to enhance lung capacity, control breathing and promote relaxation. This class is 75 minutes long

After class-Q&A with the instructor: An opportunity to discuss your specific concerns, receive advice on integrating yoga into your training, and how to adjust poses to your needs.

What to bring:

Yoga mat, comfortable clothing that allows full range of motion, water bottle.

Things to note:

-The run can be at your own pace and distance! Our Run Club is for all to attend. You will always have someone to run with. The distance we will be running is anywhere from 3 to 6 miles but as this is your run, any distance you can go we would love to have you join us. The course will be designed to come back around or turn at certain points back to Pop Life just in case there are others that want to stop earlier. We will not go any more than 6 miles.

-The run will begin by 10:30AM so we can be ready by the 12:00 PM class. This class is 75 minutes.

-No need to run with us for the yoga workshop! All are welcome to attend one or the other.

-We have bathrooms with showers to change and get ready for the yoga class as well as locker/shelves to put your belongings.
